Cable Median Barriers to be Installed on River Valley Highways

The Arkansas State Highway Commission has opened bids for improvements to roadways in Sebastian, Crawford and Johnson Counties.

Cable median barriers will be installed on five miles of Highway 71 and Highway 271 south of Fort Smith to Greenwood and on 27 miles of Interstate 40 from Dora to Alma and from Center Point to Lamar.   

Nationwide Construction Group of Chesterfield, Michigan was awarded the contract at $941,523.06 for Sebastian County. Work will begin by next month and is expected to take about three months to complete.

Massana Construction, Inc. of Tyrone, Georgia was awarded the contract at $4,286,225.50 in Crawford and Johnson Counties. That project should take about seven months.
